Course Overview
This training session will enable teaching assistants to become more confident in evaluating the impact on those pupils in their charge. They will gain a greater understanding in how to support teachers on what Ofsted inspectors expect of teaching assistants. Use will be made of the most up to date Ofsted framework for inspection.
Course Duration
This one-day, tutor-led training course is held at a quality hotel (minimum 3*). It provides excellent networking opportunities and includes refreshments and lunch.
9:00am arrival for 9:30am start with a 4:00pm close.
Specific ‘hands-on’ tasks are tailored to your needs. The tutor is a highly experienced Ofsted lead inspector and national trainer.
Who is the course suitable for?
Secondary, primary and special school teaching assistants of all levels and experience. In addition, the course is suitable for heads of department/faculties and subject leaders with line management responsibility for teaching assistants and those wanting to contribute to school improvement.
Outcomes
- A clear understanding of Quality First teaching in relation to the role of teaching assistants
- An appreciation of how to remove barriers and have the greatest impact on pupils’ learning and progress
- Understand what Ofsted Inspectors are looking for when judging the impact and effectiveness of teaching assistants during lesson observations
- Review knowledge and understanding of differentiation and assessment to support pupils’ learning
- Strengthen confidence in applying a range of practical tools to support effective learning
- Applying effective questioning to current practice
