Securing outstanding governance at your next inspection
This course provides information on how Ofsted assesses schools based on the inspection framework. It covers each of the key judgements inspectors will make and you will have the opportunity to consider the evidence looked for when making each of the judgements. It will also highlight in detail the key considerations for governors around the quality of Leadership and Management of their school
By the end of the course you will:
- Navigate the new ‘Analyse School Performance (RAISE)’ system
- Understand the tables and charts in the NEW ASP
- Begin to interpret and analyse the school performance information in the new DfE interactive online tool
- Complete your evaluation of the strengths and development needs of your governing board
- Consider the use and analysis of a skills audit which identifies strengths and areas for development
- Review a range of self-evaluation tools to use with your governing board and begin to create a governing board action plan
- Understand the current ‘landscape and expectations’ of school governance
- Be clear about governors’ core functions and what they look like in practice
- Consider the difference between ‘Strategic’ and ‘Operational’ functions
- Reflect on current National Information for governors
- Understand the current inspection framework and what is expected of governors
- Consider how to evidence your impact as a governing board using inspection criteria for effective governance
