Course Overview
This training session will enable subject leaders to be more confident in making judgements about the typicality of the quality of teaching and learning within their subjects, as evidenced by lesson observations, learning walks, work scrutiny and pupil voice discussions. Delegates should bring with them a copy of the current Ofsted school inspection handbook.
Course Duration
This one-day, tutor-led training course is held at a quality hotel (minimum 3*). It provides excellent networking opportunities and includes refreshments and lunch.
9:00am arrival for 9:30am start with a 4:00pm close.
Who is the course suitable for?
Secondary experienced and new leaders, heads of department/faculties and subject leaders and those wanting to contribute to whole school improvement.
Outcomes
- Confidence in using a range of tools designed to support leaders to prioritise future developments in their subject
- Securing making accurate and consistent judgements on the quality of teaching, learning and assessment in line with the latest Ofsted criteria
- Strong ability providing high-quality feedback to staff following monitoring activities in order to allow for continued improvement
- High quality work scrutiny procedures and impact positively on pupils’ outcomes over time
- Subject specific questions to ask pupils in order to establish an accurate picture of their experience and learning journey
- A range of supported proformas to help gather and evaluate evidence that will inform further improvements
- Improve monitoring and evaluation methods within subjects that will, in turn, improve whole-school effectiveness
