Event Description

This Course is a Pilot and is free of charge, we do require a Deposit to be made on booking and this will be refunded for everyone who attends. Anyone who books and doesn’t attend will be charged the deposit rate, please read T & C’s and ensure any cancellations are done within the times agreed to avoid being charged for this course.

This two day course will give you a firm understanding of the reasons why we are introducing the Premier Academy programme and its place in the Primary School setting within the National Curriculum for Physical Education.  Throughout the course you will develop an understanding of the principles of planning and preparing for the delivery of the Premier Academy including the selection of children to attend. You will explore and become familiar with the Academy session plans, ambassador videos and related core tasks, and how these fit into the context in which we will be working.

The two days will also take in a consideration of strategies to maximise progress and achievement of children at different ages and levels of experience

You will leave the course confident to inspire the next generation of athletes.

Overview:

Day 1

  • Introduction to Premier Academy, aims and objectives
  • Current landscape in Primary Schools
  • The ethos of ‘elite’ and the place of Premier Academy in primary schools
  • Fundamentals of movement, fundamental movement skills and fundamental sport skills
  • The balance between FMS, sport specific skills, conditioning, attitude and psychology
  • The journey of the Premier Academy athlete, including use of ambassador videos
  • Learning outcomes and differentiated success criteria
  • Programme and resources for Years 1 and 2
  • Preparing for delivery

 

Day 2

  • Working with parents
  • Consideration of interaction with athletes of different ages and experiences
  • Application of learning through National Curriculum activities
  • Programme and resources for Years 3 and 4
  • Programme and resources for Years 5 and 6
  • Differentiation of tasks, outcomes and delivery strategies
  • Monitoring and assessment
  • Reflection and supported preparation

 

Please note all staff who will be working on The Academy must attend these two days.
