Yeovil College – FA Small Sided Referee

This course is aimed at providing people aged 14 and over with the knowledge and skills required to officiate in Small Sided Football. On successfully completing the award learners are able to referee 5, 6 & 7-a-side games played indoors and outdoors. This would enable young people to seek employment with small sided football providers such as: Powerleague, Soccerdome & Goals. (A separate qualification is required for Mini Soccer, Futsal, and 11-a-side football.)

The nature of this officiating award requires learners to demonstrate knowledge of the rules and ability to make decisions based on situations that occur within a game through assessment. The tutors will deliver in a flexible format and as practically as possible, but learners need to be made aware that this course requires a) full attendance on both days of the course and b) the completion of multiple choice and practical refereeing assessment.

Who is it for: Community sport project leaders, coaches and volunteers.

Course prerequisites: Some experience and understanding of football. Referees are also expected to complete FA Safeguarding, an FA CRB for any learner who is 18+ and register with their County FA.
